RTWCS has performed in a number of venues. During the early years of the 20th century our principal performing venue was the now demolished "Great Hall" in Tunbridge Wells, but after its construction in the 1930's, most major performances were held in the Assembly Hall.
Finding alternative venues suitable for housing a large chorus and orchestra has always been a problem for the choir, but many successful concerts were held in churches in and around Tunbridge Wells. Of these, St John's is probably the current favourite. The adjacent and recently rebuilt church hall is also where we normally have our regular rehearsals. [more..]
St John's Church
The location is on the main A26 (St John's Road), Tunbridge Wells TN4 9LG
Although our major concerts are held in the Assembly Hall, St John's Church is currently the favoured venue in Tunbridge Wells for RTWCS concerts in circumstances:
- When a large audience is not expected (St John's has a maximum capacity of about 600)
- When a large orchestra is not required
St John's also has a side gallery which is occasionally called for in performances (our recent staging of Britten's "St Nicolas" is a case in point)
The newly rebuilt church hall and association extensive facilities provide an ideal location for rehearsals. Note that we use the entrance by the Amherst Road car park.

St Mary's
The Parish Church of Goudhurst
St Mary's, the parish church of Goudhurst, is the choir's favoured location for its annual Christmas concert. Its acoustic is particularly favourable for choral singing, and its friendly village atmosphere makes it a favourite for both choir and audiences. The church is located in a prominent position at the top of a hill in the centre of Goudhurst (postcode TN17 1AN).
Wiesbaden Venues
The main venue for our concerts in Wiesbaden is the home church of our "twin" choir - the "Bach Chor", the magnificent Lutherkirche. (See also affliliations and list of events with Wiesbaden Choir).
The other venue we have performed is the imposing town hall or "Kurhaus" of Wiesbaden.
On their visit to Kent in 2007 we performed together in Rochester Cathederal (see Review).
