Most rehearsals take place on Mondays between 19.30 and 21.30 (7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m ) in St John’s Church Hall, Tunbridge Wells. Members are asked to arrive by 19.25 and be ready to start singing at 19.30. There is usually a short break around 20.30 for announcements and raffle prizes. Any changes will be noted in the rehearsal schedule which lists dates for all rehearsals as well as a reminder of homework for the next week.

You will need a soft pencil and eraser for conductor’s markings and should never use ink or a highlighting pen on hired music. Please keep chatter to a minimum during the rehearsal as a courtesy to the conductor.

Various aids are available to assist with learning a work. ChoraLine produces CDs and downloadable mp3 files for much of the regular repertoire. A 10% discount is available to Choir members who enter the word TUNBRIDGE as a discount code in the website’s shopping basket, or who order by phone (07561 445897) and say that they are a member of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Choral Society.

Streamed MIDI and other music files of the more popular choral works can be downloaded free of charge from “Cyberbass ” and ““. The latter site also has useful tips on how to play MIDI files on your computer, which varies according to your computer’s operating system and applications.

The 2017/18 annual subscription was held at £135, payable in full in September or in two instalments of £70 each, payable in September and January. A reduced rate of £25 is charged for members under the age of 25 and, at the discretion of the treasurer, for members who otherwise could not afford to take part.

For works that require a large number of singers, we sometimes invite members of other local choirs to join us on a temporary basis. In such circumstances, an appropriate membership fee will be negotiated with the treasurer.  If you wish to join us on a temporary basis please contact our Membership Secretary or fill in the membership application form, noting (in the “other information” field) that you wish to join only for a specific concert, and quoting the choir of which you are already a member.
