Notices
- RTWCS representatives met with the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to discuss the future of the Assembly Hall - an issue which has been headlined in the local press and of concern to the society. A note on the meeting prepared by Trevor Hurrell can be viewed here.
- Revised dates for our concerts for next (2010/11) season have now been fixed and are shown on our Concerts page and the latest Newsletter.
- Streamed "midi" files of the more popular choral works can be downloaded free of charge from "LearnChoralMusic.co.uk". The site also has some useful tips on playing "midi" files. "ChoraLine" learning CDs or (tapes) can be ordered from Music Dynamics Ltd., alternative rehearsal CDs can be supplied from "Choral NoteBash".
- One of our basses - Brian Akery - would like to contact anyone who could lend him sheet music of Paul Robeson songs: anyone who can help can contact him on 01732 833106.
- Please see "Other items" below with names of the current Line Representative. Please ensure you know who your representative(s) is/are, and make a note of their contact details - preferably informing them in advance if you are unable to attend rehearsals. Line representatives should be the main point of contact for members.
- Photos of the current committee members can be seen here.
- Wiesbaden: Roy Dunstall has reported that he had met with Jorg Enderbrook, the new Musical Director of the Bach Choir, at a recent weekend visit and discussed joint ventures. 2011 is the Lutherkirche centenary year and Jorg has invited us to participate, possibly over the Bank Holiday weekend starting 29 May 2011. The Wiesbaden choir is planning a return visit to us in 2012 and 17-20th May or 7-10 June are possible dates. The works to be performed have yet to be agreed.
- If any member would care to offer their services to assist with maintaintenance of this website, please contact Gavin Grant.
Rehearsals
Normal rehearsals are between 7:30pm and 9:30pm on Mondays in St John's Church Hall. There is usually a short break at about 8.30. Extra rehearsals will be announced here:
- The 2010/11 (our 107th season) will start on September 6th 2010 at 7.30pm at St John’s Church Hall. As usual for our first meeting, rehearsals will follow the AGM. Please arrive especially early to allow time to collect music.
- Following problems with security at St John's, please note that the church has asked us to ensure the main door (from the Amhurst Rd car park) is locked at the start of rehearsals; latecomers will need to press our (RTWCS dedicated) bell push to gain entry. Please try to be prompt as someone will need to come out of the rehearsal to open the door.
- A raffle in aid of choir funds is often held at rehearsals; suitable donations are always appreciated.
- Please arrive no later than 7.25pm and be ready to start singing at 7.30. Promptness, possession of a pencil and minimum chatter during rehearsals is appreciated by our Music Director!
