The Choir

The choir comprises about 100 singers, split roughly equally male and female. Each year, we typically perform three concerts, one in November, one in April, held at the Assembly Hall in Tunbridge Wells and another in the summer; details of previous or forthcoming concerts can be found on the Concerts page. We also perform an informal Christmas carol concert at Goudhurst Church; this has proved hugely enjoyable and popular in the past. Occasionally, we join forces with the Bach Choir of Wiesbaden to sing a concert together, either in Tunbridge Wells or in Wiesbaden.

Rehearsals are normally held in St John's Hall every Monday, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm in season. They are conducted by our Director of Music Richard Jenkinson and aided by our very able accompanist, Anthony Zerpa-Falcon. There are normally about 12 rehearsals for each concert, and plenty of opportunity to learn notes!

After rehearsals, everyone is invited to socialise at a local drinking establishment. In December, we have an Annual Dinner and at the end of each season, the choir holds an informal party. During the summer, the choir has been invited to spend the afternoon at Fordcombe Manor where we are able to make full advantage of the pool, tennis courts, croquet lawns and garden.

RTWCS is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Societies (Making Music) and we are listed in the gerontius concert diary. We are twinned with the Bach Choir of Wiesbaden.

Supporting the choir

We are always grateful for any support the choir receives. If you wish to support the Society, why not become a patron? Also, if anyone is in a position to initiate sponsorship of any of our concerts, in whole or part, the Society would be very grateful. Help such as this does make a difference to our concert budgeting and our choice of repertoire and is greatly valued.

Music Library

The choir also has a large library of music which is available for hire. To find out more, details are available here.
