RTWCS is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Societies ("Making Music"), and choir's constitution provides for a "Making Music" representative on the committee.

The National Federation of Music Societies was founded in 1935 at the instigation of Sir George Dyson (1883-1964) who was their first Chairman and President. George Dyson was also for a time the president of RTWCS and once conducted the choir. Now renamed "Making Music", the organisation represents and supports over 2,900 voluntary and amateur music groups throughout the UK, and provides a number of useful services and advice.

We are also listed in the "Gerontius.net" concert diary.

Twin Choir

Bach Chor Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden in Germany is the twin town of Tunbridge Wells, and occasionally we join forces with the Bach Choir of Wiesbaden to sing a concert together, either in Tunbridge Wells or in Wiesbaden in the wonderful Lutherkirche (below). For more information see Archive Section.

Our last visit to Wiesbaden was in May 2011 to sing a joint concert with the Bach Chor, which was part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Lutherkirche. After a rehearsal on the Saturday we had an enjoyable visit to the old town of Limburg, with the concert being held on the Sunday evening. The concert comprised of English music, with Elgar Chandos anthems and Rutter's Requiem being the principal works, all sung in English, which were well received by the audience.  The conducting was shared by Richard Jenkinson and their new Musical Director, Jörg Enderbrook.

This was the fifth occasion when the RTWCS has visited Wiesbaden since 1985 and the overwhelming goodwill and hospitality was again evident.  The link remains strong and plans have been made for the Bach Chor to visit Tunbridge Wells in May 2012 for a joint performance of Verdi Requiem, which is a work that they have never previously performed and are looking forward  to.
